A house built on a passion

Trafalgar began in 1972, when Yahya Zakaria Al Ansari, a Kuwaiti real-estate trader, and his wife Heidi decided to follow a shared passion for watches and jewellery. They wrote to a handful of maisons asking to open a luxury retail store in Kuwait. Neither expected that single shop to become their life's work.

Chopard became the defining partner. Happy Diamonds arrived in 1977 and was an immediate success among Kuwait's collectors. When the St. Moritz collection launched in 1980, the world's first client was Kuwaiti.

Tested, and still here

Yahya passed away in 1985 and Heidi carried the business forward. In 1990, during the invasion of Kuwait, Trafalgar's collection, including rare and exclusive pieces, was looted. The company reopened in December 1991.

In 2000, on Heidi's passing, their son Amer Al Ansari took the helm, and leads the group today.

    Trafalgar opens in Kuwait. Chopard becomes its defining partner.

  2. 1977

    Happy Diamonds by Chopard launches, an immediate success among Kuwait's collectors.

  4. 1991

    Trafalgar reopens after the invasion of Kuwait.

    The first Chopard boutique opens.

  6. 2002

    TAG Heuer joins the portfolio.

    The first TAG Heuer boutique opens at Marina Mall.

    Gucci watches join the portfolio.
